Do you remember FDR signing Social Security into law?

I do, and though long ago, I remember his memorable statement that the program is so well-insulated no politician could tinker with it.

I was still in school and a very excited girl, since my dad was taking me to the local train station to see our president stop at our small town (Longview, Wash.) to say a few words.

We did see him on the last car, seated in his wheelchair, to be viewed by all of us. Of course, everyone cheered, and he waved back and said a few words. (I always believed he sent a special wave to me.)

Roosevelt would be outraged at the current political climate and politicians who feel they are qualified and credible to dip into the Social Security fund he took so much time and effort to make absolutely secure, for all future generations.

Let us all stop this; we the people do have some powers.
