This month, my four boys and I were again blessed to attend Snowball Express. This was our seventh year. My boys were ages 6, 5, 3 and 1 when my husband, Lt. Louis Allen, was killed in Iraq. Many people ask me, "How do you do it? How do you go on?" I tell them our family is strong, and we are also supported by friends, communities and organizations like SBE.The day our buses traveled to Fort Worth was one of the most touching moments of our trip. We saw people with lawn chairs next to highways, waiting for us to pass so they could wave. We saw firemen on overpasses, policemen saluting, all the while with our guardians, the Patriot Guard, leading the way.Rolling into Fort Worth and hearing people yell, "Thank You!" to my children and seeing people wipe tears from their eyes as they waved flags and signs, reminded us all that regardless of our struggles, we are not alone.I cannot thank you enough for coming out the way you did for us.-- Barbara Allen, Otisville, N.Y.
