Cheers: To the people of the Fort Worth area for tremendous turnout to support the Snowball Express families Dec. 2. These families who have sacrificed so much for our country were thrilled and honored by your love and appreciation. I am very proud to be a member of the Fort Worth community.

-- Bob Wood, Aledo

Cheers: To Bob Wood, Fort Worth day director of the Snowball Express, for a wonderful, heartwarming "Walk of Gratitude" at the Stockyards Dec. 2. We watched and cheered 1,700 children and surviving parents of our fallen military heroes. We're proud to have had that event in Fort Worth this year!

-- Janet and Ed Kasper,

Fort Worth

Cheers: To UPS for using a golf cart with a trailer attached to deliver packages in our area! The big truck stays parked nearby, with no emissions or fuel wasted by driving it from one house to another. The other popular delivery company should take note.

-- Sama Chandler, Fort Worth

Cheers: To counselor Robin Loftlin and nurse Linda Warren at North Joshua Elementary. They have truly made this holiday season one to celebrate. God bless you.

-- Miranda Taylor, Burleson

Cheers: To my angel Lynn, whose relatives live nearby. My car lost a wheel, and he and the neighbor moved the car for me. Thank you and many blessing to you and your families!

-- Delores Mendoza, Fort Worth

Jeers: To Judge Lawrence Meyers for acting as though he was above the law by contesting his traffic tickets for years (paying only after being embarrassed in the media). Those in law enforcement and holding judgeships should be upholding the law rather than abusing it.

-- Ed Lindsay, Fort Worth

Cheers: To Renee from AT&T Fort Worth Pioneer for the ice cream treats; NICA and Children's Closet at University Christian Church for donating uniforms; Mr. Brady from Food City for school supplies; Unity One Bank for kids' bank and prizes for teachers; and the Original Cupcakery.

-- Rachel Martinez,

Washington Heights Elementary

Fort Worth

Cheers: To April, who found our dog Zoey and returned her to us. We missed her and are very happy to have her home safe and sound.

-- Claudia Mowrey, Fort Worth

Cheers: To the manager and crew at the Cheesecake Factory in Arlington for the extraordinary kindness and exemplary customer service shown to me in October when my careful planning went awry. They went far out of their way to help me, and the food is great, too!

-- Linda Vann, Euless

Cheers: To my neighbor, Wilma Rogers, for coming to my rescue recently when I had a medical emergency. The concern, breakfast and lunch were appreciated. This wasn't the first time she helped me. Cheers to other neighbors who called, checking on me upon seeing/hearing fire trucks. I have great neighbors.

-- Joy Cross, Hurst

Cheers: To Texas Auto Services in Keller. Great prices, great customer service, all done by certified mechanics who work on all vehicles, including imports. Warranty work and dealer recalls -- no problem.

-- Mark Mobley, Keller

Cheers: To the generous lady who paid for my pecan pie at the Sam's Club located on S.E. Loop 820 the day before Thanksgiving. God bless you and your family!

-- Ina Holland, Fort Worth

Cheers: To Southlake Carroll for sportsmanship during Trinity's post-defeat haka ceremony. The Dragons respectfully watched as Trinity's family shared their final haka of the season, topping it off with applause before turning to one another for a well-deserved family celebration of their own. Thank you, Dragons.

-- Michelle Johnson,

Arlington

Cheers: To the man my teenage daughter and I witnessed in the Target parking lot in Fort Worth on Dec. 1, pushing a shopping cart at full tilt to the delight of the child inside. That brought back great memories for both my daughter and me.

-- Danny Faught,

Fort Worth

Cheers: To Laura, who found my cellphone at Overton Park and returned it to me. It fell out of my pocket when my dog chased a squirrel, and I could not find it. It is heartwarming to know there are good people, and Laura is one of them!

-- Elisa Gappa, Fort Worth

Cheers: To Dr. William B. Scroggie for providing so many years of perfect pediatric services at Fort Worth Pediatrics. You were my pediatrician and my kids', and no one compares to the level of care you provided. You, sir, shall be sorely missed. Enjoy your retirement. You earned it!

-- Tiffany Dow, Kennedale

Cheers: To A. C. Service Co., Inc. for quality workmanship when Charlie and Aaron installed our new air-conditioning/heating unit. And, cheers for keeping the quoted price even though they did extra work. Have used Mike and his guys for several years for maintenance and they never disappoint. Job well done!

-- Bryan and Marianne Owen, Fort Worth

Cheers: To the people who stopped to stay with a dying dog in front of South Euless Elementary on Euless Main Street Nov. 30, including an off-duty police officer who called animal control and directed traffic until they arrived. Jeers to the person who hit the puppy, slowed, then kept going.

-- Dorothy Carlin, Fort Worth

Cheers: To Mary and Larry Matl and the Edgecliff Garden Club for their untiring efforts in the planning, buying and dedication of the Blue Star Memorial marker in the Edgecliff Village Bird Sanctuary Park. It is a beautiful tribute to our service men and women.

-- John and Jo Ann Byrne,

Arlington

Cheers: To ESPN. As a former Fort Worth resident and a TCU football fan, it was good to hear ESPN during the TCU-Oklahoma game when announcers stated several times that the game was being played in Fort Worth. In the past, ESPN had forgotten where TCU was located.

-- Thomas Edward Wall,

Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

Cheers: To the incredible performance of the Christmas cantata by the sanctuary choir and orchestra at Christ Chapel Bible Church! We felt like we were in Carnegie Hall. Now that's the way to start your Christmas season. God bless you all for your time and amazing talent!

-- Debby and Chip Brown,

Fort Worth

Cheers: To Carla Dodd and Kelly Kamal for going the extra mile to prepare breakfast Nov. 9, for the bus drivers and aides at the Lake Worth Transportation Department, which was much appreciated.

-- David Markel, Azle

Cheers: To the gentleman at Mansfield Paint and Body who made my day. I took my car in fully expecting an expensive repair on the fender. He came out, looked at the damage and proceeded to make my day when he simply rubbed the paint off at no charge. Thanks.

-- Nancy B. Doerr, Arlington

Cheers: To Cathy Dismore and the Shepherd of Life Blue Lamb Bell Ringers for performing at our Nativity display. They were so professional and sounded wonderful and were so gracious in volunteering their time to the community. They really added to the Christmas spirit for us this year. Thank you!

-- Steven Van Gemert, Arlington

Cheers: To the Hurst Police Department and Detective Feucht. She spent six months tracking down the person who stole my wallet from work. I had given up hope, so cheers to the HPD for all you do to keep us safe.

-- Danielle Wells, Colleyville

Cheers: To Nakia Baldwin and Frank Alvarez for helping my mother when she had a blowout. Frank changed the tire -- the spare was low so he removed it and drove to a gas station to air it up. Nakia stayed with my mother until I arrived. God bless you both.

-- Allison Wright, Fort Worth

Cheers: To Robert and everyone at Keller Trophy. He is always very willing and understanding, and quick to get the items that we request frequently at Wayside Middle School. Thanks so much for a job well done!

-- Denisha Ivey, Librarian

Watauga

Cheers: To the Benbrook Fire Department and Raymond Henry for the beautiful and spectacular fireworks show at the 21st Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Benbrook YMCA. Thank you for all you do in the community of Benbrook!

-- Dana Harris, Benbrook

Cheers: To Sgt. James of the North Richland Hills Police Department. He installed a new battery in my wife's car in the parking lot of her Hurst beauty salon. Because of my handicap, I was unable to install it as I used to. Sgt. James is a true public servant.

-- Joe W. Moore, Richland Hills

Cheers: To the TCU Horned Frogs and Coach Gary Patterson for a most successful first season in the Big 12 despite overwhelming odds. Their league rankings in terms of points allowed, total defense, rush defense, sacks, interceptions and takeaways were all first or second in the Big 12. Go Frogs!

-- Gerald F. Price, Granbury

Cheers: To Jai and Jana Reed for being named the "Best Neighbors of the Year." They are truly extraordinary and "neighborly."

-- Russell and Steva Livingston, Fort Worth

Jeers: To the "big box" stores selling hot dogs right outside of the exit doors. The smell is nauseating. Who in their right mind would eat one? If they taste like they smell, it would make me sick.

-- Tom Sonsel, Fort Worth
