Regarding Sheri Allen's commentary on holiday wishes (See: "It's Hanukkah -- and thanks for all those holiday wishes," Wednesday): As a Christian and someone who celebrates Christmas every year, I have to admit I get annoyed at the notion that, instead of wishing someone "Merry Christmas," I should instead offer up a more sensitive "Happy holidays."

As Allen points out, there are other religions besides Christianity, but most Americans celebrate Christmas. Wishing someone "Happy holidays" waters down my Christian beliefs.

My preference is to greet anyone with the greeting of one's own religious belief.

In doing so, you will be reminded how great a country we live in that different religions can coexist in peace, love, joy and hope -- the real reason for the season.
