FORT WORTH -- A 32-year-old Army veteran was convicted Thursday of continuous sexual abuse of two of his daughters and was sentenced to 43 years in prison without the possibility of parole, the Tarrant County district attorney's office reported.

The defendant is not being named to protect the identity of his daughters.

On July 3, 2011, the 12-year-old daughter first told someone that her father sexually assaulted her. A second daughter, 9, then said she, too, had been assaulted, prosecutors said.

Their mother called police. During the investigation, both girls said their father had abused them on numerous occasions for years, according to the release.

During the punishment phase of his trial, two family members, the defendant's younger sister and his wife's younger sister testified that they had also been abused but had kept quiet until the daughters came forward, the release said.
