On a Friday evening, I attended a reception at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. As I pulled into the public parking lot it shares with the Scott Theater, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame and the Will Rogers complex, the sign read, "Parking $8."
The attendant asked me, "Where are you going?" I replied, "The Community Arts Center." She said, "That will be $8."So I pay the $8 and park my car. But I walk back and ask if it made any difference where I was going. She said, "Yes, if you had said you were going to the cutting horse competition it would've only been $5."The parking space my car occupied for $8 was a communal parking place not designated as allocated to any particular event or venue. The fellow in the adjacent space was paying only $5. Everyone attending the Arts Center reception or the performance at the Scott Theater was charged $8.I wholeheartedly support the cutting horse competition, but I strongly do not support charging patrons for the same parking space based on which event they are attending.-- William Billingsley, Fort WorthHave more to add?
