I'm not a bit surprised that some folks are disappointed with Fort Worth Police Chief Jeff Halstead's disciplinary action with regard to Maj. Paul Henderson. However, civil service rules limit what he can do at present. (See: "In first 4 years, chief has faced crisis after crisis," Sunday)
Despite having embarrassed himself, the department and worst of all, Halstead, Henderson still has certain rights as an individual accused of a crime. Now more than ever, our community needs to support our chief and the overwhelming number of brave and hard-working members of our police department who are as disappointed as we are by the actions of one officer. Please don't allow the tarnish on one badge to spread onto a couple of thousand shiny ones.-- Steven B. Townsend, Fort WorthHave more to add? News tip? Tell us
