A 45-year-old man died Wednesday morning from injuries he suffered when a trash truck picked up trash in a commerical garbage container where the victim had been sleeping and began to compact it, police said.

Workers stopped when they heard the man screaming.

The Tarrant County medical examiner's office will make the final determination of the cause and manner of death, said Fort Worth police officer Sharron Neal.

The medical examiner's officer also will release his identity, Neal said.

The man suffered cardiac arrest and was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital.

Paramedics and police got the call of an injury at East Lancaster and North Hughes avenues shortly before 7 a.m.

A police report put the location in the parking lot of an O'Reilly Auto Parts store.
