American Airlines' newest Boeing aircraft -- a gray plane with a white tail -- landed at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport late Tuesday afternoon.

The Fort Worth-based carrier announced that it received its first Boeing 777-300ER, which it plans to initially use on the DFW-Sao Paulo route starting Jan. 31. It's expected to be one of the first American planes to sport a new paint job as the company rebrands itself.

"This is an important step in demonstrating how American is focused on putting our customers at the center of everything we do," said Virasb Vahidi, the airline's chief commercial officer. American said it also plans to use the 777-300 on routes to London Heathrow from DFW and New York's Kennedy Airport.

On Monday, American posted a video on its YouTube account that featured an aircraft with the tail hidden by black tarps. Chief Executive Tom Horton has hinted that the new aircraft could be one of the first to showcase a new livery and brand for the "new American."

American had originally expected to launch the new 777-300 in mid-December but delayed its entrance into the fleet because of manufacturing issues with the first-class seats.
