Mansfield toddler seriously hurt in pit bull attack

A toddler was seriously injured Monday evening and another man also was hurt after the two were attacked by a family pit bull, Mansfield police said late Monday.

Authorities seized the dog and took him to the city's animal shelter.

The 2-year-old girl who was taken by helicopter ambulance to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth and her condition was unavailable Tuesday morning.

The 26-year-old man was treated at the scene.

Authorities did not release the names of the victims.

Firefighters and police got a call of a dog bite at about 5:30 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Glen Creek Drive in Mansfield. They determined that the victims had been bitten by the family dog.

The case is being investigated by Mansfield police and officials with Mansfield animal control.
