MIDLOTHIAN — Cedar Hill's Jonathan Buffin returned a fumble 80 yards for a score in the second quarter, then teammate Larry Hill scampered in from 45 yards out with 1:37 left to play as the Longhorns defeated Waco Midway 49-34 in a Class 5A Division II Region I final at the Midlothian Multipurpose Complex.
Midway (13-1), which only stopped Cedar Hill (10-4) twice in the contest, forced a punt with 7:03 left in the game. But the Panthers went three-and-out and Hill's scoring run sealed the victory.
The Longhorns who finished the day with 439 yards offense advance to the state semifinals where they will meet Austin Westlake, a 42-35 victor over Plano West.
Westlake vs. Cedar Hill is set for 2 p.m. Nov. 15 at Waco ISD Stadium.
Arkansas State pledge quarterback Damion Hobbs completed 17 of 20 passes for 188 yards for Cedar Hill. Of those receptions 11 of them went to Texas A&M pledge Quincy Adeboyejo for 129 yards and two scores.
