We lost an iconic figure made of metal and cloth with no name, just Big Tex. He started out as a Santa Claus, reborn into a larger-than-life big Texas representative, greeting Texans and others from all over the world who entered the Texas State Fair.

We also lost another iconic Texan, born in the Fort Worth area, of a famous mother (Mary Martin). This man is known throughout the world as J.R. Ewing, our own native Texan. I wonder how folks would take to the idea, when "Big Tex" is resurrected, of calling him J.R and giving him the facial features of Larry Hagman, our native son for whom Dallas and Fort Worth became famous.
