Possibility of snow surfaces in Dallas-Fort Worth forecast
North Texans could wake up to a dusting of snow Monday morning after a strong cold front pushes through the Dallas-Fort Worth region on Sunday.
Weather models suggest that Tarrant County could get light snow around daybreak Monday, though the exact timing isn't clear, said Jennifer Dunn, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
"We don't expect much in the way of accumulation, but it could be a dusting," Dunn said. "The models are in surprising agreement."
Areas to the northwest of Tarrant County would be more likely to receive snow accumulation, she said.
Current mild temperatures are expected to linger until Sunday when the front arrives. A high temperature of 73 is forecast today with similar highs on Saturday and Sunday.
The front could get here during the afternoon or evening Sunday and temperatures will fall quickly. The forecasted low Monday is in the lower 30s and the high temperature during the day should only reach the low 40s, according to the weather service.
As of Friday morning, the weather service put the chances of snow Monday at 20 percent. Northwest winds gusts could reach 25 mph.
On Tuesday morning, low temperatures could drop into the lower 20s before warming into the high 40s during the day.
