As a member of the generation that was born in the years of the Dust Bowl and Depression and lived to tell the tale, I'm becoming alarmed at the attitude of today's citizenry expecting the government to take care of every problem.

My mom was a single mother with three little girls to feed and shelter. Her mantra was, "Never take anything from the government because if you do they forever after control your life." She cleaned, did laundry, worked in the fields to keep her girls alive. We had nothing, but we got a wonderful education in our public school system, and we grew up strong enough to handle most anything life sends our way.

Our government is doomed if we don't get back to encouraging people to strive for success, knowing that success will be rewarded financially. It's not a crime to make money. Rich people have given a lot to our country as they "give back." Redistribution of wealth is a terrible mistake.
