FORT WORTH _ Santa Claus weather is headed for North Texas, but it won't be here today.

North Texans will have to wait until this weekend for cold temperatures.

Forecasters say North Texas should experience mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70s Thursday after some patchy morning fog and clouds burn off.

A weak cold front is expected to arrive Thursday evening, dropping high temperatures Friday into the low 70s. Things will warm back up into the mid 70s on Saturday.

Temperatures will reach the upper 60s early Sunday before a strong cold front visits North Texas.

"Once that front hits, we could see that drop as much as 30 degrees," said meteorologist Ted Ryan at the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth. "It will be cold by Sunday evening."

On Monday morning, some North Texans could wake up to freezing temperatures. Forecasters say the low in Tarrant County will be around 33. The high for Monday will be in the mid-40s even though sunny skies will be around.

North Texans will have sunny skies on Tuesday with highs in the lower 50s after starting the day around freezing.
