FORT WORTH -- A donkey in a pasture by a road was fatally shot by an arrow over the weekend, authorities said Tuesday.

It was the third donkey killed by an archer in far north Fort Worth since 2011, authorities said.

The wounded donkey was found Sunday afternoon in a pasture in the 9600 block of Saginaw Boulevard near Saginaw. The animal later died, authorities said.

The pasture was in the same area where two other donkeys were killed by arrows in October 2011.

About 15 donkeys remain on the property, the owner told KXAS/Channel 5 TV.

"We see how friendly they are -- they come right up to you -- so what kind of sport is that? I don't get it at all," owner Karen Oney told Channel 5.

Police and animal control officials were investigating. No arrests had been reported by late Tuesday.
