Gary Hancock's Nov. 25 letter (See: "No compromise") correctly notes that the American Revolution was not a compromise.

However, the revolution merely separated us from England. It did not create this country.

The U.S. Constitution created this country. And the Constitution was most certainly a compromise, and still is.
