WEATHERFORD — A Cresson man was in Parker County Jail on Thursday night, accused of attacking his mother with a hammer, the sheriff’s department reported.
Jacob Dwight Farren, 30, faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member. Bail was set at $75,000.Farren's mother, 54, called 911 just before 7 p.m. Tuesday from her home in the 100 block of Brook Drive in Cresson, according to a news release, which did not name her. She told deputies that she and her son argued, he threatened her and hit her with the hammer on her head and upper body. He tried to gouge out her eyes, she said. Farren fled the scene in her vehicle.Deputies found Farren about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on Goforth Road. The hammer was recovered, the news release stated.The mother was taken by ambulance to a Fort Worth hospital where she was treated for lacerations, scrapes and bruises and released.Twitter: @Bill_MillerST
