Texting ban argument

As a person who argued against the no-texting-while-driving ordinance in Arlington, I eagerly read the Sunday story "Roads are safer with texting ban, police say."

What I expected to read was clear-cut, statistical evidence that this ban has resulted in a drop in texting-related auto incidents. I was disappointed to read another tired collection of paragraphs on the subject.

The only real numbers presented were the same used when this ordinance was passed. Like the recent prediction of benefits of new recycling bins in Arlington, this is hardly a convincing argument. This is a human-interest story that turned into another tired plea for a state law.
