FORT WORTH -- A 50-year-old Bedford man was sentenced to more than 13 years in federal prison Tuesday for sharing child pornography on his computer.

Michael R. Stanley was also fined $20,000 by U.S. District Judge John McBryde and ordered to serve five years of supervised release after his imprisonment.

Stanley pled guilty in August to one count of transporting a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

An FBI agent, working undercover on the distribution of child porn through peer-to-peer file sharing networks, downloaded images of children, some bound, involved in sexually explicit conduct from Stanley's shared directories, according to a news release by the U.S. attorney's office.

A subsequent search of Stanley's computer and external hard drive revealed videos and images of child porn. Stanley confessed that he had used his computer to possess the "sadistic" images, the release states.

Stanley was sentenced to 160 months in prison Tuesday.

John Robinson, Stanley's defense attorney, could not immediately be reached for comment.
