A man was shot and killed in north Fort Worth early Saturday after an argument between friends became physical.

Michael Hayes, 41, died at 4:56 a.m. in the operating room at John Peter Smith Hospital according to information from the medical examiner.

Fort Worth police were called about 3 a.m. to the 10000 block of Crawford Farms Drive.

An early investigation revealed that Hayes, the man who police said shot him and several others went out for the evening.

Police said the argument started while the group was out for the evening and continued after they returned to the house on Crawford Farms Road, which the medical examiner lists as Hayes' residence.

As the argument became physical Hayes was shot, police said.

Witnesses told police the man who shot Hayes left the scene in a vehicle. He was later located by police and arrested in the 3000 block of Texas Sage Trail, police said.

Police identified the man as 52-year-old Joseph Fitzsimmons. He was being held in the Mansfield Jail on Saturday for suspicion of murder with bond set at $100,000.
