What's closed

Thursday

All local school districts and nonessential federal, state, county and municipal offices and courts; banks; the stock market; and the Postal Service.

Transportation

The Fort Worth Transportation Authority will not operate buses or the Trinity Railway Express on Thursday. But the T will operate the Cowboys Coaches shuttle service to Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Buses will begin leaving the Vickery Park & Ride parking lot, 200 W. Vickery St., about 1:15 p.m., two hours before the scheduled kickoff of the game against the Washington Redskins. Fare is $5 cash per car to park in the lot and $10 cash per person for a round-trip bus ride.

What's open

The Fort Worth Zoo, from noon to 4 p.m.; the grounds of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and Japanese Garden.

Trash pickup

No trash will be picked up anywhere Thursday; after that, schedules vary by city. For those not listed, check the city's website.

Arlington, Colleyville, Keller, Mansfield: No makeup day. Service will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day.

Bedford, Euless, Grapevine, North Richland Hills, Southlake: Thursday pickups shift to Friday and Friday pickups to Saturday.

Fort Worth: Thursday pickups shift to Friday and Friday pickups to Saturday. Residents may place two closed bags of trash outside their garbage carts on their first pickup day after Thanksgiving.

Friday

Federal offices will be open, but local school districts and most nonessential state, county and municipal offices will remain closed. The T will run a regular bus schedule, but the TRE will operate on a holiday schedule with two extra morning trains.

These groups are serving or providing Thanksgiving meals to homeless and needy families during the Thanksgiving season.

Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County

Guests can arrive at 11:40 a.m. A short service will be held at noon, with a free traditional Thanksgiving meal served at 12:40 p.m.

Arlington Charities

First-come, first-served full Thanksgiving baskets may be available to those who come at 9 a.m. (Thanksgiving baskets are limited.)

Thursday

The Salvation Army

Free Thanksgiving dinner served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
