Yes, secession is a bad idea. However, your state budget rationale is flawed.

You stated that Texas receives $32.9 billion from the feds. How much do Texans and Texas corporations pay into the U.S. Treasury? It seems you forgot that part of the equation.

How could you forget the billions we send Washington? Personal income tax, corporate income tax, capital gains, excise, liquor, et al., go to them. I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed the omission.

I bet we could fund our own darn highways, healthcare and education without a dime from them -- if we were only allowed to keep our money.
