Obama and Benghazi

Wednesday, the president supported Susan Rice in his press conference.

Reporter David Lightman stated she received her talking points "given to her by intelligence agencies." I suggest the reporter has obfuscated what the president said, specifically, "she made an appearance at the request of the White House in which she gave her best understanding of the intelligence that had been provided to her," (a quote not included in the article). President Obama did not say she received her briefing from intelligence agencies, but implies she was briefed by the White House.

I am left to wonder why the White House called upon Susan Rice (ambassador to the United Nations) to be its spokesperson when in the press conference the president stated she "had nothing to do with Benghazi." Is it because other top officials close to the incident would not say what the White House was asking of them?
