A Joshua man faces several assault charges after a fight broke out between adults at a youth football game in Burleson last weekend, authorities said Thursday.

Burleson police did not release the name of the suspect because he has not been formally charged.

The fight was reported shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday at a field at Loflin Middle School, 6801 Farm Road 1902 in Burleson.

The game, involving 9- and 10-year-olds, pitted teams from Kennedale and Joshua. During the game, two players got into fight and some parents -- some with credentials to be on the field and others without -- walked onto the field, according to a Burleson police report.

The mother of a boy on the Kennedale team said a parent from Joshua punched her, Burleson police said.

The parent left the scene. Joshua police arrested him at his home that day on unrelated charges.

Burleson police said Thursday that the Joshua parent could be charged with misdemeanor assault and felony assault.
