A Joshua man faces several assault charges after a fight broke out between adults at a youth football game in Burleson last weekend, authorities said Thursday.

Burleson police did not release the name of the suspect because he has not been formally charged.

The man was arrested at his home Saturday by Joshua police on unrelated charges.

The fight was reported shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday at a field at Loflin Middle School, 6801 Farm Market 1902 in Burleson.

The youth game involving 9-and 10-year-olds pitted teams from Kennedale and Joshua. During the game, two players got into fight and some parents -- some with credentials and others without credentials to be on the field -- walked onto the field, according to a Burleson police report.

A mother who had a son on the Kennedale team claimed she was punched by a parent from Joshua, Burleson police said. The Joshua parent also took a swing at another Kennedale parent who is a federal agent. The agent was attempting to break up the fight, Burleson police said.

The Joshua parent left the scene and was later arrested on unrelated charges.

Burleson police said Thursday that the Joshua parent could be charged with misdemeanor assault and felony assault.

The case would be presented to the Johnson County Attorney or the Johnson County District Attorney's office for consideration, authorities said.
