As a 40-year resident of Fort Worth, I have witnessed phenomenal growth.

This growth requires more and better streets.

The need for corridors to move east-west traffic in Fort Worth is critical. We have only Interstate 30 and Rosedale Street. Now, consideration is being given to converting Rosedale into an urban village-type street similar to West Magnolia Avenue. Lanes will be closed for on-street parking to create a parklike image.

What works for Magnolia won't work for Rosedale. Magnolia is closed at both ends, which eliminates serious through traffic.

Rosedale is a high-traffic commercial street and the only serious option if I-30 is jammed. It is a major route for firetrucks, MedStar, school buses and trucks of all sizes.

The plan makes no more sense than blocking a lane on each side of South Hulen Street for on-street parking. Can't something be done to stop this costly design for disaster?
