I am a 53-year old white, middle-class woman. My husband and I are small-business owners, homeowners, rental property owners in the great state of California. We attend our progressive Christian church every Sunday. We have two children who we put through college entirely on our own (first in our family). We employ 34 people and provide health insurance to our employees at our small company, something many of our competitors do not do.

I take offense at being called a maggot. I think it is time in our nation to be able to respectfully disagree without the name-calling and idle threats.

I would be sad to see Texas leave our great nation, but if that is the wish of its people, vaya con Dios.
