A victim was found dead Sunday morning after a rural Wise County house fire that destroyed the residence, a fire official said.

Fire officials believe the victim was a man, but no identity had been released as of Sunday night.

A ruling on the death was pending an autopsy, authorities said.

No other injuries were reported in the blaze, which took area fire departments more than 40 minutes to extinguish.

The fire was reported shortly before 5 a.m. in the 400 block of County Road 4594. The location is between Paradise and Boyd in Wise County, about 32 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

"It was fully involved when we arrived," Paradise Fire Chief John Neal said. "Once the fire was knocked down, we started searching the home and one person was found."

Neal said only one person was living in the home at the time of the fire.

Fire investigators with the state fire marshal's office and the Denton County fire marshal's office were investigating to determine a cause.

Firefighters from Paradise, Boyd, Cottondale and Newark responded to the call.
