Aledo earned its first trip to the UIL state tournament since 2001, defeating Dumas 25-16, 25-11, 25-9 in Saturday's Class 4A regional final at Abilene Christian University's Moody Coliseum.

Other 4A qualifiers are Friendswood, Lucas Lovejoy and Cedar Park. Lovejoy won 3A titles in 2010 and 2011. The 4A semifinals are at 5 and 7 p.m. Thursday, and the final is at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Coppell d. Colleyville Heritage, 25-17, 27-25, 27-25: In a 5A regional final loss at Glen Rose, the Panthers (42-6) extended the second and third sets, but the defending champion Cowgirls (46-2) prevailed.
Coppell used numerous early dinks to gain an edge, but a pair of timeouts helped Heritage regain its composure with a power game, and an ability to keep the ball in play kept the match close. The Panthers were led by outside hitters Kimmy Gardiner (Mississippi State commitment) and Sarita Mikals (Houston), who collected many timely kills and blocks.
Texas commitment Chiaka Ogbogu of Coppell led both teams with 16 kills, while sophomore teammate Kylie Pickrell registered 38 assists and two key service aces. It was the first meeting of 2012 for the teams.
Abilene Wylie d. Stephenville, 25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 25-14: In the 3A final at the Coliseum in Snyder, the Honeybees were eliminated.
