Colleyville Heritage rallied from a two-set deficit to beat Southlake Carroll 19-25, 11-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-12 in Class 5A regional semifinal action Friday at Glen Rose.
"These players have just fought hard and played together -- especially in some recent five-set games," Heritage coach Jamie deTurck said. "I didn't have any doubts, even when we were down 2-0, that they could come back."
Sarita Mikals had 21 kills and 29 digs for Carroll, while teammate Kimmy Gardiner registered 14 kills.
In the other semifinal, defending state champion Coppell (45-2) swept Arlington (28-6) 25-22, 25-12, 25-19.
Dumas d. Burleson 19-25, 14-25, 29-27, 25-14, 15-10: In a 4A regional semifinal loss at Abilene Christian's Moody Coliseum, Abby Seamster recorded 15 kills to lead the Elks (32-9). Burleson also got 11 kills each from Madison Riley and Holly Milam.
Aledo d. Amarillo 25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 20-25, 15-5: Senior setter Mallory Powell collected 61 assists to lead the Bearcats (32-2) past the Sandies in the other 4A semifinal. Tied 2-2 in the fifth set, Aledo outscored Amarillo 13-3, with Mykah Wilson hitting the game-winner.
