DENTON -- Tylor Blake rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns, leading Trophy Club Byron Nelson to a 52-14 victory over Denton on Friday night.
But the Bobcats (7-3, 4-3 District 5-4A) missed the playoffs when Lake Dallas beat Azle 21-13.
Nelson finished in a three-way tie with Azle and Lake Dallas but lost the tiebreaker on point differential.
The Bobcats scored on all six of their first-half drives and finished with 418 yards of offense.
Quarterback Blake Clinton completed 10 of 16 passes for 125 yards and one touchdown, a 24-yard strike to Courtney Miles.
Clinton also scored on touchdown runs of 9 yards and 1 yard.
Nelson's defense did its part, too, giving up only 160 yards, including 63 in the first half.
All those yards came on Denton's only scoring drive, which was finished with an 11-yard touchdown pass from Cy Ward to Ke'Von Buris.
The Bobcats' defense was so dominating that Denton's other six first-half possessions did not produce any yards.
Blake rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns in the first half, the scores coming from 1 yard and 44 yards. His 1-yard run gave the Bobcats a 14-0 lead and his 44-yard run a 28-0 lead.
Miles completed Nelson's first possession with a 13-yard touchdown run. His 24-yard touchdown reception gave the Bobcats a 21-0 lead.
Trenton Shank also kicked a 29-yard field goal for Nelson.
Denton's other score was a 12-yard pass from Ward to Key'andre Hearvey. Nelson's last points came on a Lance Honeycutt 4-yard run.
The Broncos finished the season 3-7 and 1-6 in district play.
