NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Birdville put away Fort Worth Polytechnic early Friday in a 65-0 District 6-4A victory in the season finale for both teams at the Birdville Fine Arts/Athletics Complex.
Birdville (10-0, 8-0) could start thinking about the playoffs early after piling on 48 points against the Parrots (2-8, 2-7) in the first half. The Hawks will face Azle in the Division I bi-district round Thursday at Chisholm Trail Stadium in Saginaw.
The majority of the Hawks' starters did not return to the game after halftime.
Birdville running back Xavier Turner rolled up 181 yards rushing and collected three touchdowns. He set the tone for the night when he went 67 yards on the first play for a touchdown.
Birdville quarterback Justin Martin also was a big part of the scoring parade. He threw for three touchdowns and added a 10-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter. In just two quarters, he was 14 of 20 for 189 yards.
Poly quarterback Malik Jones rushed for 29 yards and passed for 19.
