After reading Dave Lieber's Nov. 4 column concerning the current trash service contract in Fort Worth, I felt compelled to write. (See: "It's time to stop those little fees and charges")

I commend those City Council members who voted against a fee increase for trash services. The current fees are outrageous for the service provided. Not only are the guidelines for separating trash from recycle confusing, but the "service" we receive is almost nonexistent.

I can't count the number of times I have arrived home on trash day to find my garbage and/or recycle containers left in the middle of the street or my driveway, requiring me to get out of my vehicle to move them; or they have been dropped and the lids have popped off.

Also, why do the trucks go down each street twice, picking up the containers on one side of the street and then coming back to pick up the other side? Wasteful. And don't set your container too close to the mailbox, or too far from the curb, because you'll either get skipped completely or get a nice little letter.

It's time to get some "service" back into our trash service pickup.
