Granbury man killed in Hood County crash

A 31-year-old Granbury man died and three people were injured Wednesday night in a three-vehicle crash in Hood County, officials said.

The wreck occurred about 9:35 p.m. on Farm Road 2580, near Thorp Spring, north of Granbury.

According to a Department of Public Safety fatality report, a Chrysler PT Cruiser and Chevy pickup were northbound on 2580 when the driver of the Chrysler tried to pass the pickup and struck a southbound 2005 Nissan head-on.

The rear of the Nissan then swung into the northbound lane, where it was struck by the pickup, the report states.

A passenger in the PT Cruiser, John Marshal McNeill, 31, of Granbury, was pronounced dead on the scene.

A passenger in the Nissan, 21-year-old Sharon Cantu of Granbury, was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in critical condition. The report indicates that Cantu suffered a brain injury and multiple bone fractures.

The driver of the PT Cruiser, 38-year-old Andrea McNeill, and another passenger, 13-year-old Hailey McNeil, were taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in good condition. Andrea McNeill suffered lacerations in the wreck and Hailey McNeil suffered broken bones, according to the report.

The report states that John McNeill and the three injured were all wearing seatbelts.
