President Obama won again. I know many of my Republican friends will be bitterly disappointed -- like I was when I witnessed the election of George W. Bush twice.
We now have a fresh start, and the majority of Americans are ready for the political parties to work together:1. An unemployment rate of 7.9 percent is better, but it is still too high. Get Americans back to work, and you'd better have a good reason if you vote against a job creation bill.2. Americans understood we had to save our economy with stimulus spending, but Obama has pulled us back from the brink. Now is the time to reduce the deficit by cutting our spending and returning our tax rates to a working level of revenue. If anyone shows you his signed pledge to Grover Norquist, please show the congressman the Pledge of Allegiance.3. Make Social Security solvent for the long term. We will understand an increase in the retirement age and extending the Social Security tax.4. Obamacare has already improved healthcare in the U.S., and it will only get better as it gets implemented. The other problems can be solved with a new idea called "compromise."-- Mark Bauer, ColleyvilleHave more to add?
