FORT WORTH -- A homeowner opened fire on a burglar Monday night as the suspect was walking out of the house with her television and other electronic items, police said Tuesday.

The woman continued to fire the weapon as the burglar got into a vehicle, and stopped only after the gun jammed.

No injuries were reported in the shooting that occurred shortly after 10 p.m. in the 1700 block of Lincolnshire Way.

The woman told police she and her husband were asleep in their home when they were awakened by the sound of their back door being kicked in, according to police reports.

The woman said she grabbed her pistol and ran into the living room where she saw the suspect taking the electronics. She fired shots as he ran out of the house, police said.

She followed the suspect outside and fired a few more shots, police said Tuesday.

Her pistol jammed at that point, she told police.

No one had been arrested as of Tuesday afternoon.
