Fort Worth firefighters battle blaze on east side

FORT WORTH _ A fire caused heavy damage to an apartment building on the city's eastside Sunday afternoon, but no injuries were reported, a fire official said.

More than 20 people were displaced from their homes in the Quail Ridge Apartments in the 4500 block of Brentwood Stair Road.

The fire was reported about 2:30 p.m.

Flames, smoke and water caused damage to one of the buildings, which had eight apartments, fire officials said.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation. No other details were available Sunday.
