Regarding the Oct. 27 story "Border shooting at center of outcry": These people are illegal immigrants who paid someone to smuggle them into our country. They broke the law by illegally entering Texas. When they entered the truck, they put their lives in the hands of the people driving the truck, who were also breaking the law.

Game wardens are trained as police officers. When this truck ran from them, it placed their lives and those of anyone on that highway in jeopardy.

A sniper no matter how good at his job in a moving helicopter would have a hard time making a shot. He had one objective: to stop the truck before some innocent person was killed or injured. It's sad that two lives were lost, but they were violating the law.

I support the police in the shooting. Texas should let this be known: If you enter Texas illegally we cannot be responsible for your safety.

These illegal immigrants are entitled to nothing. I extend my thanks to the Department of Public Safety and Parks and Wildlife for keeping these people out of Texas.
