ARLINGTON--Arlington schools trustees have named interim superintendent Marcelo Cavazos as the lone finalist for the permanent post, a Friday news release said.
Cavazos took the helm in June, after the departure of former superintendent Jerry McCullough. Cavazos, a former English teacher, has worked in Arlington schools since 1999, when he was named associate superintendent for instruction. He served as interim deputy superintendent for seven months before becoming deputy superintendent in early 2009.State law requires that the school board must wait 21 days after announcing the finalist before making an appointment. Arlington trustees have not announced when they expect to vote on a contract for Cavazos, the news release said.Jessamy Brown, 817-390-7326Twitter: @jessamybrownHave more to add? News tip? Tell us
