FORT WORTH -- Federal authorities have arrested four Fort Worth residents on suspicion of conspiracy to distribute marijuana after finding 36.5 kilograms in a storage shed at a residence.
Javier Ruiz-Guzman, 45, Isaias Duran-Duran, 35, Jose Jesus Descarena-Duran, 40, and Andres Duran-Duran, 45, are charged with conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute 36.5 kilograms of marijuana -- roughly 80.5 pounds.They made their initial appearances in federal court in Fort Worth last week before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey L. Cureton.Three of them, Isaias Duran-Duran, Jose Jesus Descarena-Duran and Andres Duran-Duran, appeared in court Tuesday. Descarena-Duran waived his preliminary hearing and detention hearing. Cureton ordered that he remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.Isaias Duran-Duran and Andres Duran-Duran's hearings were rescheduled for Thursday.The marijuana was found after federal agents went to Ruiz-Guzman's residence Oct. 24 to serve an arrest warrant.He was being targeted for administrative arrest and deportation for being a criminal alien illegally in the United States.When he answered the door, an agent saw a handgun within Ruiz-Guzman's reach.His wife, Rose Hernandez, also showed an officer more weapons in the master bedroom -- a pistol on the vanity and a rifle between the bed frame and the wall.Ruiz-Guzman told agents that marijuana was stored in a detached shed and gave them a key.Inside was a large black bag containing the marijuana, wrapped in cellophane bricks, according to a criminal complaint.Ruiz-Guzman later told officers that Isaias Duran-Duran had called him the previous day and asked him to keep the marijuana overnight. Ruiz-Guzman agreed and expected to be paid $1,000, the complaint said.On Oct. 24, Isaias Duran-Duran arrived at Ruiz-Guzman's house.
