An incumbent faces a challenger in one Tarrant County constable race, while voters will elect new constables in two other county races.
Voters will settle the three races Nov. 6.Constables' offices in Texas serve legal documents in eviction, child custody, child support, truancy and similar cases.Republican incumbent Clint Burgess is seeking another term as constable in Precinct 7. He's being challenged by Roosevelt Lee Masters Jr., a Democratic deputy constable.Burgess noted that he has 15 years of law enforcement experience, being named National Constable of the Year in 2008. On his website, Masters said he has been a deputy constable in Precinct 8, worked for a private security company and as a volunteer with the Fort Worth Police Department Code Blue and CERT (Community Emergency Response Team).The race in Precinct 5 features Ruben Garcia, a Democrat whose resume includes 17 years in law enforcement as a deputy with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department and deputy constable in Precinct 5. Former River Oaks Police Chief Dan Chisholm is the Republican candidate, running on his 37 years in law enforcement.In the Precinct 6 constable contest, Republican Jon Siegel has worked in law enforcement 18 years, 12 of those with Tarrant County constable offices.
