Driver, 22, dies in one-car crash in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH --A Fort Worth motorist who police say had been drinking at a party was killed early Sunday when he lost control of his car on a city street and crashed into a tree, according to police reports and the Tarrant County medical examiner's website.

The victim was identified as Benjamin Gartman, 22. Gartman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fatal wreck occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. in the 7900 block of Park Vista Boulevard.

Gartman was driving a Ford Mustang south at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his car, according to police reports. The car hit a median, spun out of control and struck the tree, police said Sunday.

According to a witness, Gartman had been at a party drinking alcoholic beverages before the wreck, police said.
