After the Texas Tech defense held TCU to a field goal in the third overtime period, Seth Doege connected with Alex Torres for an 8-yard touchdown to give the Red Raiders the 56-53 victory.

After being held to -1 yard of total offense in the third quarter, the Red Raiders (6-1, 3-1 in Big 12) roared back in the fourth quarter, scoring twice in a 2:34 span to turn a five-point deficit into a ten-point lead.

With 6:40 left to play, Doege connected with Torres for an 8-yard touchdown and then Darrin Moore for the two-point conversion.

After Tech forced a three-and-out on TCU’s next possession, the Red Raiders running game broke loose after being stifled for most of the day. Kenny Williams ran for 47 yards to extend the lead.

The Horned Frogs had big plays of their own left, though, and narrowed the gap with a 60-yard pass from Trevone Boykin to LaDarius Brown with 2:25 remaining in regulation.

Tech recovered the Frogs’ onside kick but was forced to punt the ball away, giving TCU the ball back with 1:20 left. Jaden Oberkrom’s 42-yard field goal, his fifth of the day and second from that length, tied the score at 36 with 18 seconds left, sending the game to overtime.

Tech and TCU exchanged touchdown passes in the first two overtime periods. Redshirt freshman quarterback Boykin, making his third start, connected with Josh Boyce and B.J. Catalon.

In the third overtime, Jaden Oberkrom kicked a 38-yard field goal to regain the lead for the Frogs, but Seth Doege quickly came up with a pass to Darrin Moore for 17 yards, setting up the game winner to Torres.

Boykin threw for 332 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions. Doege was 30-of-42 passing for 318 yards, seven touchdowns and no interceptions. Skye Dawson led all receivers with 154 yards on 10 catches for the Frogs.

The Frogs (5-2, 2-2) travel to Stillwater, Okla. Saturday to face defending conference champion Oklahoma State.
