Record numbers registered in Texas as early voting set to begin

A record number of Texans have registered to vote in the Nov. 6 general election.

As of Friday, 13,646,226 voters are registered, Texas Secretary of State Hope Andrade announced.

That tops the previous highest number of registered voters -- 13,575,062 in November 2008 -- by more than 70,000.

In Tarrant County, there are now 976,005 registered voters, compared with 966,474 in November 2008.

Early voting starts Monday and runs through Nov. 2.
