Are you revved up for the UIL marching band contest season? Here's your chance to help with our coverage and win an iTunes gift card.

If you're a student, parent, teacher, band booster or marching band enthusiast who will be attending one or more of the UIL competitions, post your experiences and photos on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #TopTxBands for a chance to win a $25 iTunes gift card.

If you are tweeting and capturing images with Instagram from the stands, we want to see it. From the president of the band boosters to the proud family member in the stands, we want all perspectives.

We'll be monitoring the posts throughout the competition season and we'll choose some of our favorites to appear in the newspaper on the News Feed page, 2A.

Here's how it works:

1. Follow @startelegram on Twitter and Instagram beginning Saturday, October 20, which is the first day of regional competitions. Post your experience, how your band's doing, results and/or photos on your own Twitter or Instagram account using the hashtag #TopTxBands and be sure to mention @startelegram. Here's an example:

"@startelegram We've got the best band ever! Waiting for results. #TopTxBands"

The @startelegram account will compile a public list of North Texas band Twitter accounts to follow. Tweet @startelegram with #TopTxBands and the marching band you follow. We’ll then look at your feed and add you to the list.

We'll be re-tweeting posts with hashtag #TopTxBands throughout the competition season, which ends Tuesday, November 6. We'll pick our favorites to appear on Page 2A. We'll also choose our favorite post and/or photo that used #TopTxBands and reward that person with a $25 iTunes gift card. Don't forget to follow us so we can contact you if you win.

The deadline to enter is noon, Thursday, November 8.

2. Retweet us: At the next booster meeting or marching rehearsal, tell others about our search for #TopTxBands fans and make sure your band’s progress is seen. Retweet the following post to your followers:

RT @startelegram Tell us how your band is doing at #UIL w/#TopTxBands to win iTunes gift cards. Details: http://bit.ly/TyegK1

Your RT will be entered into a random drawing for a $10 iTunes gift card. Please make sure to follow @startelegram on Twitter because we will be notifying winners via Direct Message on Twitter and you must follow us in order for you to be notified.

The deadline to RT is noon, Tuesday, November 6.

The Prizes: Editors will choose one entry from all posts using #TopTxBands to receive a $25 iTunes gift card. Two entries will be chosen randomly from all posts that retweeted the @startelegram post above with the hashtag #TopTxBands to win a $10 iTunes gift card. Winners will be announced the week of November 12.

CONTEST RULES: Entries must be submitted by the contest deadline. Must be at least 13 years of age to enter or win. Winners will be notified by Direct Message on Twitter or Instagram at the end of submission period. No substitutions or transfer of winners/prizes. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. Some prizes may have dues dates for redemption/use. Employees and immediate family of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Star-Telegram.com, mom2momdfw.com, dfw.com and any/all of the participating giveaway sponsors, are not eligible to enter or win.
