Dallas bar patron fatally shot in apparent robbery attempt

A man was shot and killed during an apparent robbery attempt early Thursday outside a busy northeast Dallas bar, police say.

Police responded to a shooting call about 12:46 a.m. in the parking lot of Sherlock's Pub and Grill, 9100 North Central Expressway, according to Dallas police

Two witnesses told the police they were in the parking lot when they were approached by an unknown man armed with a handgun and demanding property, police said.

The victim attempted to punch the robber, who fired one shot, killing him, police said.

The suspect then fled.

FOX4 reported that the patio bar was crowded and that several witnesses may have seen the shooting.
