Shame on Perry

I'm incredulous that Mike Norman's Friday column, "Perry getting traction for higher Ed changes," fails to hold Gov. Perry responsible for creating Texas' tuition crisis!

Perry and the Republican Legislature slashed state funding for public universities and deregulated tuition. He and the Legislature caused the skyrocketing tuition mess themselves, yet he puts the burden on colleges to create a $10,000-degree. Shame!

Perry needs to stop play-acting at caring about education and give us a break from his shell games. When Perry is ready to get serious, the solution is for the Legislature to fully restore education funding and re-regulate tuition.

In the meantime, with the debt burden Perry has put on Texas students and families, I don't know how he lives with himself.
