FORT WORTH -- A 36-year-old man was arrested late Sunday after a woman was fatally struck on Interstate 30 near Beach Street, police said.

Jeffrey J. Holland faces a charge of accident causing serious bodily injury or death, said Sharron Neal, a Fort Worth police spokeswoman.

The pedestrian was identified Monday as Ladrieka Waggoner, 28, of Fort Worth. The Tarrant County medical examiner has ruled her death a homicide caused by multiple injuries suffered in the collision.

Holland was arrested after an officer spotted a swerving 2008 black Jeep Wrangler near the scene of the accident and recorded the license plate number, Neal said.

After police discovered the woman's body on the shoulder of the westbound lanes about two hours later, the license number was checked and Arlington police tracked down Holland, police said.
