Texas defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat ruptured a right pectoral muscle in Saturday's 63-21 loss to Oklahoma and will miss the remainder of the season, the team said Sunday.

Jeffcoat, a junior, led the team in tackles for losses (11) and ranked second in sacks (4).

In addition, X-rays on the injured left wrist of quarterback David Ash showed no fracture.

Ash has not been ruled out for Saturday's game against Baylor and will continue to be evaluated throughout the week.

Trainers said Ash took a direct hit from a helmet to the wrist during the OU game.

Defensive tackle Brandon Moore (neck sprain) and offensive tackle Donald Hawkins (left ankle) will be evaluated later this week to determine their availability for Baylor.

Neither player returned to the OU game after being injured.

Alabama tops BCS

Alabama and Florida are at the top of the season's first BCS standings, making another all-SEC top two, with Oregon and Kansas State close behind the Gators.

The Crimson Tide in first was no surprise. Alabama is an overwhelming No. 1 in both polls used in the BCS formula.

Alabama has never before been first in the initial standings.

Seven times since the Bowl Championship Series was implemented in 1998, the team that was first in the initial standings went on to play in the BCS title game.

Florida in second was less anticipated.

The Gators are No. 3 in the polls, but rated best by the computer rankings that gave them a slight edge over Oregon and Kansas State when the numbers were crunched.

Florida's BCS average is .9092. Oregon's is .8993 and Kansas State's is .8963.

Notre Dame is fifth and not too far back at .8774.

TCU soccer: TCU fell at Oklahoma 3-1 in a Big 12 soccer match. Brittany Slyman scored the only goal for the Horned Frogs, who fell to 5-8-2 overall and 0-4-1 in conference play.

Minnesota football: Coach Jerry Kill was been released from the hospital one day after he had a seizure in the locker room after a loss to Northwestern. Kill has struggled with seizures for years, including several times last season in his first year with Minnesota.
